Steelers’ Omar Khan Is Expected to Sign a Former WR After Training Camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a very busy offseason. Pittsburgh acquired DK Metcalf in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks at the beginning of the offseason, followed by the signing of four-time MVP and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one year deal worth up to $20 million. The Steelers then proceeded to acquire Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith from the Miami Dolphins in exchange of Minkah Fitzpatrick, as Pittsburgh will find themselves with multiple new faces on both sides of the ball in 2025.

The Steelers most recently signed superstar linebacker TJ Watt to a three-year extension, as the veteran is now the highest paid non-quarterback in the history of football. Despite a plethora of new faces on the Steelers' roster, many feel as if the team can still upgrade the safety and wide receiver positions. Ramsey could see time at free safety throughout 2025 as well, as the veteran has been rumored to take snaps at free safety during training camp.

As speculation continues to surround Pittsburgh's secondary, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly took a moment to share his thoughts on the situation.

"I don't think Omar is done yet." Kaboly stated.

Kaboly then went on to highlight Pittsburgh's need for a safety, claiming he believes that the team may add talent at the position prior to the start of the regular season.

"I think they will acquire a safety at some point."

Kaboly's comments are most likely not surprising to many, as fans have continued to express their concerns on social media with the current state of the Steelers' safety depth.

Ramsey continues to emerge as a legitimate possibility, but the veteran would more than likely be at the top of his game playing cornerback. With the Steelers' safety depth consisting of DeShon Elliott, Juan Thornhill and Miles Killebrew, the team is expected to evaluate its options, and may make a move in the near future.

Elliott, a six-year veteran, is a talented safety who continues to emerge as a top option. Killebrew remains as well, as the nine-year veteran will look to make his third consecutive Pro Bowl in 2025. With the start of training camp under a week away, Omar Khan and his staff are expected to continue evaluating the free agency market in hopes of adding more talent at safety.

Steelers May Add Depth To The Wide Receiver Room

As speculation continues to surround the depth in the Steelers' secondary, many feel as if the team lacks depth in the wide receiver room as well. The Steelers currently have Metcalf and Calvin Austin lll as top targets, while rumors continue to circulate surrounding multiple veterans on the free agency market. With the start of training camp just days away, the Steelers have most recently been linked to free agent receivers Amari Cooper and Gabe Davis.

5 Ideal landing spots for Amari Cooper in the 2025 NFL Season

Cooper, who was involved in a midseason deal between the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills last season, is a solid veteran option who could emerge as a legitimate weapon behind Metcalf and Austin. Cooper had a down year in 2024, as the five time Pro Bowler will look to bounce back on a new roster in 2025. Cooper could play a role off the field as well, as the veteran would be an excellent mentor for younger receivers like Austin and Roman Wilson.

Davis, who finds himself in free agency following a lone season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, is another serviceable option who could emerge as a weapon behind Pittsburgh's top play-makers. Davis thrived in Buffalo playing with Josh Allen, as the five-year veteran will look to get back on track with a new team. Davis reportedly had an excellent visit to Pittsburgh earlier in the offseason, as the former Bill is expected to sign with a team in the near future.

As rumors continue to circulate regarding the Steelers' next move, Pittsburgh's front office is reportedly going to continue leaving all options on the table and will take their time in making a decision. Ramsey remains as a legitimate option at free safety, but the team will more than likely opt to add talent at the position sooner rather than later. With the start of training camp continuing to get closer, fans should continue to monitor the front office's activity on the free agency market.

The NFL Officially Fines the Chiefs for Violating Concussion Protocol, Leading to a Situation Where a Wide Receiver’s Career Could Be in Jeopardy
BREAKING: The Kansas City Chiefs have just been HIT with massive fines by the NFL after deliberately ignoring mandatory concussion protocol on star wide receiver Rashee Rice, and the consequences could end his career before age 25. It all went down in Week 14 against the Houston Texans. Late in the third quarter, Texans safety Jalen Pitre delivered a brutal (but legal) hit that sent Rashee Rice crashing to the turf. His body went limp, arms showed the classic “fencing posture” response linked to head trauma, and he immediately grabbed his helmet in pain. Any normal team would have rushed him straight to the blue medical tent. The Chiefs? They did NOTHING. No sideline evaluation. No concussion protocol activated. No explanation. Now the league has spoken: Kansas City has been found GUILTY of violating player safety rules and has been slapped with heavy fines just days after Mike Florio (Pro Football Talk) first exposed the incident. Sources say the penalties could climb into the hundreds of thousands, with potential loss of draft picks still on the table. Worse yet – independent neurologists are now warning that if Rice suffered an undetected concussion and was allowed back on the field, the long-term brain damage could be irreversible. We’re talking CTE risk, memory loss, and a very real chance his NFL career is already over at just 24 years old. This isn’t the league’s first rodeo: The New York Giants were fined $200K + Brian Daboll $100K just for peeking into the tent and yelling at doctors The Chiefs’ violation is being called “far more egregious” Rashee Rice has gone silent on social media and is reportedly undergoing extensive follow-up testing. Insider reports claim there’s a growing chance he misses the rest of the 2025 season – or worse. With Kansas City clinging to an 11% playoff chance and now drowning in this player-safety scandal, the reigning champs have officially become the NFL’s biggest villain of 2025.
