Panthers Star Suffers Serious Injury After Hard-Fought Win Over Jets
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina Panthers walked away with a gritty 13-6 road victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, but the celebration didn’t last long.
Team officials confirmed that quarterback Bryce Young sustained a serious ankle injury midway through the third quarter — casting a shadow over the team’s third straight win.
Before leaving the field, Young completed 15 of 25 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown, leading Carolina to a 10-6 halftime advantage thanks to a 3-yard scoring pass to rookie Xavier Legette.
The injury occurred when Jets defensive lineman Jowon Briggs tackled Young from behind during a scramble, twisting the quarterback’s right ankle awkwardly. He was seen limping off the field in visible pain before being escorted to the locker room.
Veteran Andy Dalton took over and managed the game efficiently, finishing 4-of-7 for 60 yards as the Panthers’ defense sealed the win.
After the game, head coach Dave Canales confirmed that Young suffered a high ankle sprain. An MRI on Monday revealed significant swelling, and early reports suggest he will miss at least one game, including next week’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
“It’s a tough moment for us,” Canales said. “Bryce is the heart of this offense. He’s been growing every week, and we’ll make sure he takes the time he needs to come back strong.”

The timing couldn’t be worse for Carolina, as the offense had begun finding its rhythm under Young’s leadership. With their franchise quarterback sidelined, the Panthers will rely on Dalton, along with running backs Rico Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard, to maintain offensive balance.
On defense, Jaycee Horn delivered another standout performance with two interceptions and six tackles, anchoring a unit that kept the Jets scoreless in the second half.
For New York, the loss dropped them to 0-7, leaving them as the only winless team remaining this season.
As the Panthers prepare for Buffalo, fans across Carolina are holding their breath, hoping for good news about Bryce Young — the young leader wearing No. 9, and the beating heart of this franchise.
