After back-to-back losses exposed major flaws in Philadelphia’s secondary, the Eagles’ front office is wasting no time exploring solutions. According to multiple league sources, general manager Howie Roseman is in early discussions to trade cornerback Kelee Ringo as part of a potential deal aimed at bringing in a proven veteran presence.
Philadelphia’s secondary has struggled mightily this season. Adoree’ Jackson has already been benched once, while Ringo has been inconsistent in coverage and frequently targeted by opposing quarterbacks. With Quinyon Mitchell sidelined by a hamstring injury suffered in Week 6, the need for immediate help at cornerback has become critical.
Roseman is reportedly targeting a high-profile defensive back from the Cleveland Browns, who have dropped three straight games and currently sit at the bottom of the AFC North. The Browns’ front office is believed to be open to trade discussions involving select veterans as they look to retool for the future.
That veteran is none other than Denzel Ward, a four-time Pro Bowl cornerback and former first-round pick. At 28, Ward remains one of the league’s premier coverage defenders, combining elite speed, physicality, and leadership. He recorded 17 tackles, five pass breakups, and one interception through six games this season, continuing to anchor Cleveland’s defense despite the team’s struggles.
If the trade materializes, the proposed package could include Ringo and a 2026 second-round pick heading to Cleveland in exchange for Ward and a late-round selection. League insiders believe the move would immediately solidify Vic Fangio’s secondary, giving Philadelphia a dependable pairing alongside Mitchell once he returns.
