Victory and Tribute: Dallas Cowboys Salute Kneeland After Hard-Fought Win
Dak Prescott – the emotional leader of the Cowboys – spoke out following the heartbreaking death of teammate Marshawn Kneeland, calling it “a devastating loss” and expressing deep sorrow for his family, loved ones, and the entire team.

Prescott shared that the news hit him early in the morning, and throughout the day, his heart felt heavy:
“I hurt. Heavy, heavy heart today. I hurt for Marshawn, I hurt for his family, I hurt for his girlfriend. I hurt for every single one of my teammates. We played every snap for Marshawn. This win is for him, his family, and every teammate who carries him in their heart.”
He went on to say that this is “a pain no one should ever have to experience,” expressing deep regret that “none of us should have to endure this kind of loss.”
Drawing from personal experience, Prescott knows the importance of expressing emotions. Having lost his brother Jace to suicide, he has long used his voice to raise awareness about mental health.
Dak also sent a message to anyone struggling in silence: “It’s okay to feel however you’re feeling … I don’t always have the answers,” urging everyone to cherish every moment, embrace their loved ones, and never take life for granted.
In response to the tragic news, the entire Cowboys team held a Zoom call to share and support one another. When returning to practice, Prescott said he would tell each teammate directly: “When I see you, I’ll speak from the heart.”
