Veteran Saints Star ACCEPTS Pay Cut Just to Keep Fighting
At 36 years old, Cam Jordan is living through one of the most emotional and surreal chapters of his NFL career. This is his 15th season, a number that defies logic for any defensive lineman, and yet, somehow, it’s also the season where he has transformed into a symbol of loyalty, resilience, and relentless passion for the game.
Back in March 2025, Jordan agreed to restructure his contract with the New Orleans Saints. From a guaranteed $12.5 million, he slashed it to a maximum of just $6 million, the rest hinging on performance incentives like sack totals and snap percentage. It wasn’t an easy decision, especially for a man who’s spent his entire career with one team. But for Cam Jordan, it was never about the money. It was about the No. 94 jersey he still wants to wear with pride.

The 2024 season nearly closed the chapter for him. He was getting fewer snaps. His relationship with then defensive line coach Todd Grantham fell apart. After a Week 9 loss to the Panthers, head coach Dennis Allen was fired, Grantham was demoted and later left to coach at Oklahoma State. Reflecting on that time, Jordan admitted, “I thought they were trying to send me out to pasture. I was angry. But then I realized, that anger came from passion. I still love this game too much.”
And just like that, he came back to life.
Under new defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, Cam Jordan has found a second wind. No longer on the field every snap, he has embraced a rotational role but still leads by example. In a stunning win over the Miami Dolphins, he recorded 2 first-half sacks, bringing his season total to 6.5, his highest since 2022. He passed Dwight Freeney on the NFL’s all-time sack list and now sits tied with Saints legend Rickey Jackson at No. 17, with 128 career sacks.
Jordan currently leads the team in pressures (9) and ranks third in pressure rate, behind only Chase Young and Carl Granderson, two pass rushers nearly a decade younger than him. He recently added a vintage strip sack against the Falcons, a moment the Saints proudly posted on X with the caption “CAM JORDAN SACK 💪.”

Thanks to those 6.5 sacks and over 55% defensive snaps, Jordan has already earned $1.5 million in incentives. He pocketed $600,000 alone from his performance against Miami. But when asked about the money, Cam just smiled, and his response silenced the room.
“I know I could’ve made more somewhere else. But I’m not here for the money. I still have too much love for this game and for the Saints to walk away. They thought I was out to pasture? Then give me the chance. And watch what I do with it.”

A true warrior never retires in his heart. And Cam Jordan, with humility and fire, is proving that every single Sunday.
