Veteran CB Set to Return to Steelers After Serving Jail Time

After a turbulent year marked by legal troubles and on-field struggles, one veteran defensive back has officially been cleared of all charges stemming from a domestic violence case in 2024. The update came from his attorney, shared by a prominent NFL insider on July 30, confirming that the legal proceedings have been dismissed and he is now “healthy and ready to go.”

Despite the legal clearance, the veteran remains unsigned heading into August 2025.

The defender had initially been charged after a March 2024 incident involving physical violence against his girlfriend. Reports at the time detailed disturbing allegations, including choking and slamming her into a wall, which led to an arrest warrant. He later entered a diversion program which, upon completion, resulted in the case being dropped.

CB Cameron Sutton signs one-year deal with Steelers - ESPN

Before the legal troubles began, Cam Sutton returned to Pittsburgh in June 2024 for a reunion stint after previously leaving the team. The NFL suspended him for the first eight games of the season, but he practiced with the Steelers during the summer. After serving his suspension, he rejoined the roster post-bye week, overtaking Beanie Bishop Jr. as the team’s slot cornerback.

However, his performance failed to impress. Sutton played in nine games, started two, and recorded 15 tackles with three pass breakups. His struggles in coverage and inability to make impact plays did little to improve his standing with the team.

The Steelers opted not to re-sign him when he hit free agency in March, and to date, no team has shown public interest. With Pittsburgh acquiring standout corner Jalen Ramsey and younger talent like Donte Kent and Bishop ahead on the depth chart, the path back to the roster appears slim.

Former 3x Pro Bowler Clears the Way for Kansas City Debut with $3M Contract After 6-Game PED Suspension
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to make headlines once again, as one of the NFL’s most recognizable wide receivers prepares to join the team following his six-game suspension for PED use. According to league insider Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs and former All-Pro receiver Odell Beckham Jr. have reached an agreement in principle on a one-year, $3 million contract, pending final reinstatement by the NFL. The deal is expected to be finalized later this week, paving the way for Beckham’s long-awaited return to the field — and his first-ever stint in Kansas City. Beckham, 32, has openly praised the Chiefs organization and quarterback Patrick Mahomes in recent interviews, noting his admiration for the two-time MVP’s leadership and work ethic. “At this stage of my career, I’m not chasing fame or stats — I’m chasing legacy. And when I stepped into Kansas City, I could feel it. That team breathes winning and belief. I truly admire Patrick Mahomes — he’s a quarterback of calm confidence and quiet greatness,” Beckham said. For the Chiefs, Beckham represents not just a veteran presence but a proven playmaker who can bring energy and leadership to a receiving corps led by Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Marquise Brown. After bouncing between the Ravens and Dolphins with limited production (just 9 receptions for 55 yards in 2024), Beckham’s arrival in Kansas City signals a potential turning point — a chance to rewrite the final chapter of his storied career alongside one of the league’s most dynamic offenses.
