Steelers Provide Update on WR Calvin Austin After He Was Injured and Taken Off the Field in an Ambulance

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have come away with a dramatic 24-21 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, but the win came at a heavy cost. Injuries continued to pile up across the roster, particularly in the secondary and at wide receiver.

Late in the game, cornerback Brandin Echols went down and had to be helped by the medical staff before walking off under his own power. On the very next play, Minnesota capitalized on busted coverage with an 81-yard touchdown to Jordan Addison. Although the Vikings pulled within three, Pittsburgh’s defense held firm to secure the win.

It was the second straight week Echols carried a heavy load with Joey Porter Jr. sidelined by a hamstring injury. Before leaving, Echols logged three tackles over 54 snaps, allowing just two catches for 23 yards on three targets. Both Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay Jr. also left the game briefly, though they were able to return.

The most concerning moment, however, came when wide receiver Calvin Austin III exited the field in an ambulance with a shoulder injury. Croke Park lacked in-stadium x-ray capability, forcing him to be transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

After the game, head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed only that Austin had a shoulder issue. Fortunately, Austin himself provided reassurance on social media: “Great Dub in Dublin! I’m all good Steelers Nation, appreciate the messages and concern.”

Before his injury, Austin contributed two catches for 13 yards and delivered a crucial block on DK Metcalf’s historic 80-yard touchdown. Metcalf praised his teammate’s effort, saying: “CA really popped a couple of those for me. Running on the back side, taking two or three defenders out, giving me space to really work.”

The Steelers’ receiver room was already thin, and Austin’s potential absence could stretch the depth chart even further. Roman Wilson, Ben Skowronek, and Scotty Miller were the other active receivers on Sunday.

With a bye week ahead, the Steelers hope to get their roster healthier before a critical Week 6 showdown against the Cleveland Browns. For now, the resilience shown in Dublin came with a reminder: victories are never without their costs.

Jerry Jones Speaks Out, Criticizes the Controversy Surrounding the Cowboys WR After the Loss to the Lions
DALLAS — Jerry Jones has finally had enough. In a fiery radio interview on 105.3 The Fan Tuesday morning, the Cowboys owner publicly ripped into star wide receiver George Pickens for his explosive, now-deleted Instagram beef with Richard Sherman following the Thanksgiving nightmare against the Detroit Lions. “I love everything George has done this year,” Jones said. “But let me be very clear — I don’t want to see him sitting on Instagram arguing with Richard Sherman or anybody else. Put the phone down, stop the social media nonsense, and focus on playing football. That’s what we pay him for.” Mic drop. The 82-year-old owner rarely calls out his own players by name in public, making this one of the sharpest rebukes in recent Cowboys history. Quick recap of the chaos: Lions game: CeeDee Lamb gets hurt and leaves early → Pickens disappears with a miserable 5 catches for 37 yards. Richard Sherman goes on TV and says Pickens “quit on routes” and showed zero effort. Pickens claps back with a savage (and quickly deleted) Instagram story: “Old man still talking.” Internet explodes. Despite the ugly performance, Pickens still leads the Cowboys in every major receiving stat (78 receptions, 1,179 yards, 8 TDs), but Jerry Jones just drew a line in the sand: the social media wars end today. “I have zero concern about George competing and helping us win games on the field,” Jones continued. “My only concern is him wasting time and energy on this Instagram back-and-forth instead of turning the page.” Will this public dressing-down light a fire under Pickens… or pour gasoline on an already raging controversy? One thing is certain — every snap this Sunday will be scrutinized like never before. Is Jerry Jones right to go nuclear on his star WR? Or did he just make the drama ten times worse?
