Steelers Place 3 Starters on Injury Report Ahead of Seahawks Clash
The Pittsburgh Steelers enter Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks with significant roster concerns.

Safety DeShon Elliott (knee), rookie defensive tackle Derrick Harmon (knee), and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (hamstring) have all been ruled out. Porter, who left the Jets game with a hamstring pull, was unable to practice this week.
To bolster the secondary, Pittsburgh signed veteran safety Jabrill Peppers, a nine-year NFL veteran with 494 career tackles and seven interceptions. Defensive coordinator Teryl Austin praised the move: “You’re talking about a high-pedigree guy. He’s tough, smart, and our players already see his football IQ. We’ll see how quickly he can help us this week.”
Peppers himself acknowledged the challenge of learning a new system but emphasized his readiness: “It’s on me to be professional, get the playbook down fast, and help this ball club win games. I think it’s a great fit, and I’ll be ready.” Cornerback Darrius Slay echoed the optimism, calling him “the Charles Woodson of our generation… versatile and a great teammate.”
Elsewhere, linebacker Alex Highsmith was limited with an ankle issue, though he isn’t on the official status report. Veterans T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward were given rest days but are expected to play. Meanwhile, Seattle faces its own injuries, with safety Julian Love (groin), defensive tackle Jarran Reed (back), and cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) all missing practice time.
Despite the setbacks, the Steelers will look to build momentum after their narrow Week 1 win over the Jets. With Peppers joining a banged-up defense, all eyes will be on how quickly he can make an impact against a dangerous Seahawks offense.
