Steelers Head Team Physician Delivers Final Evaluation on DeShon Elliott’s Serious Knee Injury
The Pittsburgh Steelers have now suffered back-to-back defeats, with their latest loss — a 35–25 fall to the Green Bay Packers — adding more than just frustration to the scoreboard. Beyond the disappointment of Week 8, the team has also lost one of its most reliable defensive leaders for an extended period.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Steelers are preparing to be without safety DeShon Elliott for the remainder of the 2025 season after he sustained a significant knee injury.
“The Steelers are bracing for safety DeShon Elliott to miss the rest of the season, per sources. His ACL is intact, and he’s working through the nature of the leg injury, so Pittsburgh will hold out hope, but a return is not considered likely at this point,” Fowler reported.
Elliott, who joined the Steelers ahead of the 2024 season, has been a cornerstone of the secondary with his aggressive play and leadership. Through five games, he has recorded 38 tackles, one sack, one interception, and a forced fumble. His absence leaves a major hole in the defense as Pittsburgh enters a crucial stretch of the schedule.

On Tuesday morning, Steelers Head Team Physician Dr. James Bradley confirmed that Elliott will be sidelined for at least the remainder of November, citing “ligament strain and internal knee trauma.”
“We’re optimistic about his recovery timeline, but we’ll reassess at the end of the month,” Dr. Bradley said. “The priority right now is ensuring long-term stability before any return to play is considered.”
While there is still a slim possibility Elliott could return late in the season, the team’s focus has now shifted toward depth replacements and ensuring their star safety’s full recovery.
