Seattle Stuns With Flurry of Moves, Adding RB Khalil Herbert

Seahawks Add Khalil Herbert in Flurry of Bold Roster Moves

The Seahawks made a series of strategic roster adjustments, including the addition of a veteran running back with recent AFC and NFC experience.

The Seahawks continue to tinker with their roster, and Monday brought a fresh round of moves - headlined by the signing of RB Khalil Herbert to the practice squad.

Herbert, 26, comes with a solid bit of NFL mileage. Originally a sixth-round pick by the Chicago Bears out of Virginia Tech back in 2021, the veteran back has bounced around some, making stops with both the Bears and the Bengals before this offseason brought him to Indianapolis. He was with the Colts during camp, but after failing to crack the 53-man roster, he landed on their practice squad - only to be released again shortly thereafter.

Now, Seattle has given him another shot.

Herbert brings an intriguing blend of experience and versatility to the Seahawks' running backs room. In 2024, he saw action in 14 games split between Chicago and Cincinnati, rushing for 130 yards on 36 carries - that’s about 3.6 yards per clip - and adding 10 receptions for 25 yards and a score through the air. He’s not going to take over a game, but he’s a capable depth piece who knows how to operate in a rotational role, especially valuable in a league where running back depth can evaporate quickly.

The Seahawks didn’t stop with Herbert. Wide receiver Cody White was promoted from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster - a clear statement they’re looking for immediate contributions in the pass game, or at least reinforcements on special teams.

To make room, the team waived safety Jerrick Reed II and moved RB Jacardia Wright to the practice squad injured reserve. Wright had been a developmental back to keep an eye on, but his status now shifts as he recovers from injury.

Every one of these moves fits into the broader mosaic of Seattle’s in-season roster management. This is the time of year when injuries start to stack up, and depth - especially from the practice squad - becomes more than just insurance; it becomes necessity.

For Herbert, this is an opportunity to reestablish himself in a crowded running back landscape. For Seattle, it’s another calculated step in fortifying their depth chart as the marathon of the season continues.

Buffalo Bills Just Signed a Top-Remaining Free Agent CB to Save Their Secondary
The Buffalo Bills secondary has been pure chaos lately: Darius Slay refused to report, Ja’Marcus Ingram got poached by the Texans, and suddenly the depth chart looked thinner than ever. But GM Brandon Beane just pulled off a sneaky-smart move that flew completely under the radar… Late Tuesday afternoon, the Bills quietly signed one of the highest-rated cornerbacks still left on the open market to the practice squad — a 25-year-old former seventh-round pick with elite 4.45 speed and perfect slot-corner size (5’11”, 190 lbs). So… who is this mystery reinforcement? (Keep scrolling, we’ll reveal the name in a second) His 2025 journey has been a wild rollercoaster: Cut for good by the Las Vegas Raiders in April after bouncing on/off their practice squad all of 2024 Signed by Carolina in the summer → waived/injured → landed on IR Joined Baltimore in early August → survived most of camp but got released on final cutdown day (Aug 26) And now he’s officially belongs to the Buffalo Bills. Drumroll… the newest member of Bills Mafia is M.J. Devonshire — a name that, believe it or not, was still ranked inside the Top 30 available cornerback free agents this fall according to PFF, Bleacher Report, and multiple NFL insiders. Right now Buffalo’s active 53-man roster only has THREE true outside cornerbacks: Christian Benford Tre’Davious White Rookie Maxwell Hairston With a brutal late-season schedule and injuries always one snap away, bringing in a young, fast, draft-pedigree CB who can play both outside and in the slot is a no-brainer depth move. Is M.J. Devonshire the hidden gem who finally stabilizes the Bills’ secondary… or just another practice-squad body? One thing’s for sure: Bills Mafia just got a little faster.
