A public memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in Utah on Sept. 10, has been scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 21, in Glendale, Arizona. The event, organized by Turning Point USA, will celebrate Kirk’s legacy and honor his impact as a prominent voice in American politics.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. Authorities identified the suspect as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was arrested more than 24 hours later. Robinson now faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder, firearm discharge, and obstruction of justice.
Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray announced during a press conference that he would seek the death penalty, calling Kirk’s killing “an American tragedy.” Officials emphasized that the slaying has shaken communities nationwide, with Kirk remembered not only for his activism but also for his ability to inspire young Americans across college campuses.

In addition to the Arizona service, the NFL will join the national remembrance. The Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots confirmed they will hold a joint moment of silence before their Week 3 clash at Gillette Stadium. Players, coaches, and fans from both sides will unite in honoring Kirk’s memory.
Team representatives noted that the tribute will reflect the NFL’s broader commitment to acknowledging moments that impact society beyond football. For Steelers and Patriots alike, Sunday’s ceremony will serve as a reminder of unity, respect, and shared mourning before the intensity of competition begins on the field
