Panthers WR Defends Bryce Young After Two Days of Harsh Criticism from Fans Following Disappointing Performance
The Carolina Panthers are going through a turbulent stretch after a painful 17-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 10. The defeat not only dropped them to a 5-5 record but also triggered a wave of backlash aimed at quarterback Bryce Young, who many blamed for the team’s lackluster showing.

However, while social media erupted with negativity, wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan stepped up to defend his quarterback. Speaking to The Athletic, McMillan expressed frustration at how quickly fans turned on Young.
“Last week when Bryce played great, everyone was praising him like a star,” McMillan said. “But after one bad game, people suddenly turn their backs and criticize him harshly. That’s not fair. We win and lose as a team. We receivers share part of the blame when we don’t create enough opportunities for him. Our job is to help Bryce, not to blame him.”
McMillan also revealed that Young addressed the team emotionally after the loss to the Saints.
“He was disappointed, sure, but you could see the fire in his eyes. Bryce told us he’d come back stronger, and that energy spread through the whole locker room.”

McMillan’s words serve as a reminder of the unity and accountability that the Panthers need most right now. Despite a tough remaining schedule, Carolina still holds hope for a Wild Card spot — if they can recover quickly from this setback.
The Week 11 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, a team the Panthers crushed 30-0 earlier in the season, will be their chance at redemption. All eyes will be on Bryce Young to see if he can silence the critics and lead his team back to form.
