Panthers Owner David Tepper Fed Up as Star Player Storms Out During Fit Check Friday Ahead of Week 13

Week 13 is fast approaching, and as usual, the Carolina Panthers held their traditional Fit Check Friday, a day dedicated to revealing and celebrating the team’s game-day uniforms. But what was supposed to be a fun and stylish locker room ritual quickly spiraled into chaos after one star player abruptly stormed out, leaving owner David Tepper absolutely livid.
Fit Check Friday: Black and Silver Return for Week 13
According to team reporter Darin Gantt, the Panthers will take the field against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday wearing their black jerseys and silver pants, a combination that ranks as the second most-used look in franchise history, behind only the classic white-on-white combo.

The last time Carolina wore this look was in a 23–22 victory over the New Orleans Saints last November. In that game, quarterback Bryce Young threw two touchdown passes, including the game-winner, and delivered a crucial fourth-down conversion that sealed the win. With cooler weather setting in, the black-silver combo was a natural choice for both style and performance.
Players were encouraged to match their personal fits with the uniform colors, creating a unified and high-energy vibe heading into the weekend. Throwback photos from Week 9’s win over the Saints were also shared internally to hype up the look.
But that excitement quickly turned into tension after a dramatic walkout stunned the locker room.
The Drama: And Once Again, He Stormed Out
As teammates laughed, posed, and compared fits, one player could be seen frowning, tossing his cap aside, and ripping off his jersey before abruptly leaving the scene.
That player was Chuba Hubbard.
Yes, again.
Sources inside the team said Hubbard was visibly frustrated with the uniform reveal and blurted out that the black-silver combo was “an embarrassment to my level of play.” He reportedly refused to take part in the team photos and skipped the rest of the day’s media sessions.

One equipment staffer shared
“He said it looked like something out of a Canadian high school league. Then he grabbed his phone and left without a word.”
David Tepper Loses Patience: “I Don’t Pay Tens of Millions for That Attitude”

Team owner David Tepper, who personally signed off on Hubbard’s 4-year, $33.2 million extension just last November, was reportedly furious after being informed of the incident.
During an internal meeting with coaches and PR staff, Tepper slammed a folder on the table and declared
“I don’t pay tens of millions of dollars so someone can throw a tantrum over a game-day jersey. This is the NFL, not a fashion show.”
Panthers coaches are working to deescalate the situation ahead of Sunday’s game, but insiders say the incident may have lasting implications. Hubbard’s future in Carolina could be in jeopardy if the star running back doesn’t shift his focus back to football, and soon.
