Panthers 2025 Rookie Waived After Major Team Rule Violation – Coach Dave Canales Sends a Clear Message

Panthers cut former Miami Hurricanes WR Jacolby George

Charlotte, North Carolina, November 18, 2025
Jacolby George, a promising 2025 rookie for the Carolina Panthers, has officially been waived before appearing in a single regular-season game. But what shocked fans wasn’t his on-field performance, but rather a serious violation of the team’s internal rules, leading to a swift and firm decision from the coaching staff just as the Panthers hit midseason.

According to internal sources, George crossed a red line set for rookie players. While the team has not publicly disclosed the specific details, many speculate the violation involved breaking team discipline, such as curfews, meeting attendance, or off-field conduct.

George, 22, was an undrafted free agent (UDFA) out of the University of Miami (FL). Despite going undrafted in 2025, he earned a three-year deal with the Panthers thanks to his speed and precise route-running, logging 1,929 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns over four college seasons. He appeared in all three Panthers preseason games, recording 2 catches for 19 yards but failing to make a big impact.

Still, talent alone wasn't enough to save George from the consequences of his actions. Panthers head coach Dave Canales, in the middle of a major culture rebuild, addressed the media with a strong statement:

“Here, talent is not enough. You don’t get on the field just because you’re good. You get there because you’re trusted. And trust is earned through discipline. The moment that discipline is broken, no matter how fast you run or how well you catch, you don’t have a place on my team.”

As of now, George has not signed with another team and may be awaiting an offer for a practice squad spot. However, with his disciplinary record now public, his chances of returning to the NFL this season are slim.
