Nick Sirianni Likely to Cut WR Fifth-Round Pick After Disappointing Preseason Performances

Philadelphia’s second preseason game painted an all-too-familiar picture: struggles across the offense, stalled drives, and questions about roster depth. While preseason is often a time for experimentation, one wide receiver has quickly become the center of attention — for all the wrong reasons.

Despite being given opportunities, the rookie wideout has failed to make the most of them. His routes have lacked sharpness, his separation has been minimal, and his contributions in the passing game have been almost invisible. In a group where competition is fierce, he’s becoming the odd man out.

Nick Sirianni and the Eagles’ coaching staff have stressed accountability throughout training camp, and with roster cuts looming, patience is wearing thin. Veterans and rookies alike are expected to prove they belong, and so far, this fifth-round pick has struggled to justify his place.

That wide receiver is Keilan Robinson, who has put together two underwhelming outings in back-to-back weeks. Across the preseason, Robinson has logged just 18 carries for 33 yards, averaging a mere 1.8 yards per attempt — a stat line that simply doesn’t measure up in the eyes of evaluators. Against the Browns, he totaled only nine yards on six carries, continuing a troubling trend of being stopped at or behind the line of scrimmage.

With stars like Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, and A.J. Dillon locked into the rotation, Robinson’s path to the roster looks increasingly slim. Even Montrell Johnson Jr. and ShunDerrick Powell — despite their own struggles — appear to have a stronger case for that fourth running back slot.

Robinson’s best shot may come on special teams, where he did notch a 24-yard kickoff return versus Cleveland. But unless he shows dramatic improvement, it’s more likely his preseason tape will serve as an audition for another team once the Eagles move on.

As cut-down day approaches, all signs point to Sirianni making a tough call. For Robinson, time is running out to prove he belongs in midnight green.
