The Pittsburgh Steelers came away with a strong 23-9 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, but celebrations were muted as one of their defensive leaders went down with a serious injury.
Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed in his postgame press conference that safety and special teams ace Miles Killebrew sustained a non-contact knee injury during the second quarter. Tomlin noted that while other players picked up minor bumps and bruises, Killebrew’s injury was the only one “of real significance.”
“It’s tough,” Tomlin said. “You never want to lose a guy like Miles — he embodies what Steelers football is about: toughness, effort, and accountability. Right now, our thoughts are with him as we wait for more updates from the medical staff.”
The injury is reportedly serious, and the team will conduct further tests to determine the extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, several other players — including T.J. Watt, Joey Porter Jr., Brandin Echols, and Darius Slay Jr. — also appeared to be shaken up but are expected to be ready for the next game.
The Steelers will face the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football, October 16, hoping to carry their momentum forward — but with heavy hearts as they await news on one of their most respected veterans.
