Major Shake-Up Looming in Buffalo? Sean McDermott Hints at Changes for James Cook

The Buffalo Bills’ offensive struggles continued in last week’s 24-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, where they managed just one second-half touchdown despite a solid defensive showing. Much of the postgame criticism centered on running back James Cook’s limited usage, as he played just over half of Buffalo’s offensive snaps despite being one of their most effective weapons.

According to ESPN, Cook did not appear on any of the team’s 9 third-down plays or their lone fourth-down attempt — a shocking stat that longtime Buffalo broadcaster Howard Simon called “inexcusable.”

Head coach Sean McDermott addressed the controversy this week, confirming he’s already spoken with offensive coordinator Joe Brady about making adjustments moving forward.

“Joe and I have already talked about that to some extent today. It’s something to keep in mind going forward,” McDermott told reporters.

While Cook rushed 17 times for 87 yards in the loss, his involvement in the passing game has dipped significantly — averaging just 2 catches for 14.8 yards per game, the lowest since his rookie season.

McDermott also referenced the failed end-around call to Elijah Moore on third-and-one, saying that regardless of the play call, “we have to execute it at a higher level.”

With the Bills losing two straight and slipping into a tie with the Patriots atop the AFC East, insiders believe Buffalo could look to make a move before the NFL trade deadline.
Reporter Sal Maiorana of the Democrat & Chronicle speculated the team could target Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers, or possibly elevate Gabe Davis back into a larger role.

One thing is clear: this bye week isn’t about rest — it’s about recalibration. If changes are coming, they need to happen now.

Cowboys WR Admits Heartbreaking Truth About “Meaningless” Breakout After Bitter Week 14 Loss to Lions
Ryan Flournoy just dropped 115 yards and a 42-yard touchdown in place of an injured CeeDee Lamb… and then told everyone it means absolutely NOTHING. The Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver, who has now posted back-to-back impressive games, was brutally honest after the crushing Week 14 defeat to the Detroit Lions: “Not sweet, it’s bitter,” Flournoy said. “I did all that to win. None of them stats really impressed me.” From a forgotten depth piece to sudden WR3 contender in just two weeks: 34 yards vs Chiefs on Thanksgiving 115 yards + 1 TD vs Lions in Week 14 Dak Prescott trusted him on multiple third-down conversions and hit him for the explosive score, yet Flournoy refuses to celebrate. “I just want to go out there, play with these guys, have fun, and WIN,” he added. “Losing makes everything pointless.” While fans and analysts are calling it his official “coming-out party,” Flournoy basically threw his own breakout performance in the trash because the scoreboard didn’t end in Dallas’ favor. This raw “win-or-it’s-worthless” mentality has Cowboys Nation buzzing: Is Flournoy putting too much pressure on himself as a rookie? Or is this exactly the fire Dallas desperately needs in a season derailed by injuries? One thing is crystal clear: Ryan Flournoy doesn’t care about your fantasy points or highlight reels. He only cares about one thing, VICTORY. Next week, all eyes will be on “Flo” again. Can he finally turn that bitterness into something sweet? Drop your thoughts below: Is Flournoy’s mindset genius… or dangerous?
