He’s Back: Packers’ Star Receiver Returns, Ready to Torch the Steelers in a Week 8 Showdown!

It seems that it is just a matter of time before Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson gets back to the field for the first time since suffering a serious knee injury in the final Green Bay game in the 2024 NFL regular season. It is even possible that he gets the call to play at last this coming Sunday, when the Packers take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in a Week 8 game on the road.
Watson has returned to practice, with his 21-day practice window opened on Oct. 6. That means that the Packers have less than a week to decide on whether they would activate him to join Matthew Golden and the other active wide receivers or be forced to sit the former North Dakota State Bison star wideout out the rest of the season.
Golden can’t wait to have Watson back on the field with the Packers

As Watson awaits his looming return, Golden has expressed his desire to finally share the field with him. He is confident of the damage his tandem with Watson would inflict on opposing defenses because of their speed.
“(That’s) a lot of speed, man,” said Golden, who has caught seven passes for 123 yards over the past two games. “I’m excited for him coming back. Definitely going to open up a lot of things.
“I’ve watched him work each and every day to get back where he is now. I’m excited for him. I’m ready to see him go.”

Golden’s ability to create separation using his speed is one of the major reasons Green Bay took him in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. While he’s yet to have a huge game in Packers uniform, that should come sooner than later, and having Watson back is likely to benefit the rookie’s chances to get even better looks downfield from quarterback Jordan Love.
On the season, Golden has 249 receiving yards with zero touchdowns on 18 receptions and 23 targets through six games.
