Green Bay Unifies Funding Package to Transform Lambeau Field into NFL's Largest Stadium

The Green Bay Packers and city officials have finalized a landmark agreement, announcing a $600 million funding package to renovate Lambeau Field, aiming to make it the NFL’s largest stadium. The news, revealed on Sunday, has sparked excitement across Packer Nation.

The deal, finalized after years of negotiations, commits to renovations through private funding. The Packers will expand capacity from 81,441 to 85,000, surpassing MetLife Stadium’s 82,500, according to team sources.

President Mark Murphy celebrated the pact, stating, “This upgrades Lambeau while preserving its soul.” The project will enhance seating and maintain the “Frozen Tundra” legacy.

 

Lambeau, the NFL’s oldest stadium since 1957, will undergo a two-year renovation starting in 2026. New concourses and modern video boards are key upgrades.

The agreement resolves lease disputes with the city, securing control until 2052 without taxpayer funds. Fans have praised the self-funded approach.

Construction will enhance the fan experience, adding 3,559 seats and upgraded amenities. The $92 million economic boost from the 2025 NFL Draft highlighted this need.
