Giants Interim Head Coach Mike Kafka Admits After Loss: “We Had No Answer for the Packers’ WR”

Mike Kafka can't waste chance to show why he should be Giants' coach | New York Post

East Rutherford, NJ In his first game as the interim head coach of the New York Giants, Mike Kafka endured a tough debut as his team blew an early lead and fell to the Green Bay Packers 27–20 at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants started strong, leading through most of the first half, but momentum slowly shifted, and by the final whistle, the Packers had stormed back to secure the win. It was the Giants’ ninth loss of the season, deepening their woes in the NFC standings.

The turning point of the game? Christian Watson, the Packers’ explosive wide receiver, who caught two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter that sealed the victory.

Speaking to the media after the game, Kafka looked visibly frustrated, especially when asked about Watson’s impact.

“We tried different coverages, rotated guys, even gave him double attention at times… and we still couldn’t stop him. He was too fast, too sharp, and the Packers made sure to capitalize. Honestly, we had no answer for Watson late in the game.”

📉 A rough debut for Kafka

This was Mike Kafka’s first appearance as head coach after Brian Daboll was fired on November 10, 2025 due to the team’s poor 2–8 start. Although the Giants showed some early promise, they collapsed in the second half — particularly on defense, where they couldn’t contain the Packers’ passing attack.

Christian Watson, while not officially named MVP of the game, was widely recognized by analysts and fans alike as the unofficial standout, constantly shredding the Giants’ secondary and making plays when it mattered most.

Analyst reaction: If Mike Kafka cannot spark a turnaround soon, it will be hard for the Giants’ front office to justify giving him the long-term reins. Then again, with the way Christian Watson played, even a seasoned coach might have struggled.

Tyler Shough’s Shocking Moment: Just One Hour After Leaving Sei Less with His Wife, He Learns a Jets Cornerback Was Shot Outside
New York What was supposed to be a peaceful weekend evening turned into a haunting memory for New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, after he learned that a shooting occurred just one hour after he and his wife had dinner at Sei Less, a popular upscale restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. During the Saints’ Bye Week, Shough and his wife visited Sei Less, a hotspot frequently visited by athletes and celebrities. Less than an hour after leaving the restaurant, news broke that New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd had been shot outside the very same location. The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday, on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue. According to law enforcement sources, Boyd was shot in the abdomen after a dispute turned violent outside the restaurant. Two gunshots were fired. The gunman reportedly fled the scene in a black BMW X8, and a second silver Mercedes-Benz Maybach was also seen leaving the area shortly after. Photos taken by police also showed a Rhino GX, a luxury armored SUV worth up to $300,000, parked outside Sei Less during the aftermath. #Jets CB Kris Boyd is in critical condition after a shooting in Manhattan, per @nypost. The team is aware of the situation but has no further comment at this point. https://t.co/f9dzcY19Ip — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) November 16, 2025 The team later confirmed that Kris Boyd, a 5-foot-11 defensive back who joined the Jets in March 2025, was the victim. Boyd previously played for the Vikings, Cardinals, and Texans, and is known primarily for his work on special teams. His career stats include over 100 tackles and 1 interception. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he is currently in critical but stable condition. Tyler Shough, visibly shaken, gave a brief statement upon hearing the news: "I felt a chill go down my spine. I honestly can’t believe something like that happened right where my wife and I had just been. An hour earlier, we were laughing, enjoying dinner. Now someone’s fighting for their life. I’m praying hard for Kris and his family. I hope he pulls through." Police have made no arrests as of now, and the investigation remains ongoing. Sources say that witnesses at the scene have not been cooperative, making it more difficult to identify the shooter.
