Green Bay, WI – May 30, 2025

The Green Bay Packers have welcomed back a familiar face, appointing former safety Nick Collins as their new cornerbacks coach during OTAs, sources told ESPN. The move brings a legend to the coaching staff.

Collins, a second-round pick in 2005, played seven seasons with the Packers, earning 3 Pro Bowl nods (2008-2010) and a Super Bowl XLV ring with a crucial interception return touchdown. His career ended in 2011 due to a neck injury.

During his tenure, Collins recorded 22 interceptions over 102 games, showcasing elite ball skills and range. He led the NFL in interception return yards in 2008, cementing his status as a Packers Hall of Famer (2016), per ESPN.

After retiring in 2014, Collins coached defensive backs at Lake Highland Preparatory School (2021-2022), leading them to championships, and later served as cornerbacks coach at Bethune-Cookman University (2023-2024), honing his coaching expertise.

The Packers’ secondary, featuring Keisean Nixon, Nate Hobbs, and rookie Micah Robinson, needs guidance amidst Jaire Alexander’s trade rumors. Collins joins a defense bolstered by TJ Watt, aiming to improve their 22nd-ranked pressure percentage from 2024.

Collins replaces Ryan Downard, who shifted to assistant defensive coordinator. His experience as a safety offers a unique perspective to coach cornerbacks, focusing on anticipation and ball skills, per packers.com’s OTA preview.

Fan reactions on X are electric: “Nick Collins coaching our CBs? That’s huge!” one Cheesehead tweeted. “He’ll teach them to ball-hawk like he did!” another exclaimed, hopeful for a defensive turnaround.

As OTAs progress, Cheeseheads are eager to see Collins’ impact on a young secondary, aiming for a 2025 Super Bowl run.

DOLPHINS IN CHAOS! PANTHERS O-LINE CHALLENGES MIA'S SHOCKING DEFENSE.
CHARLOTTE, NC – The matchup between the Miami Dolphins (1-3) visiting the Carolina Panthers (1-3) this Sunday is a highly dramatic encounter between two teams plagued by issues. This isn't a fight for a playoff spot; it's a desperate race to see which team can navigate the storm of injuries and internal instability to hold onto a sliver of hope. Both sides are hungry for a win to avoid being completely buried in Week 5. Don’t just watch the game — live it! Get your gear featuring the logo of your favorite team. Limited stock — don’t miss out! 👉 [SHOP NOW] The situation of injuries and poor form has led to a candid assessment: “This is a showdown of two teams trying to fail. The team that commits fewer mistakes will have the ‘honor’ of winning.” The Dolphins' offensive crisis following the loss of star Receiver Tyreek Hill has created a giant void that even talents like Jaylen Waddle and De'Von Achane will struggle to fill. Miami's defense, already inconsistent, now faces dual pressure as the offense falters. Their defense stands a chance of being thoroughly exploited by the Panthers' running scheme, despite Carolina’s decimated O-Line. For the home team Panthers, injuries are devastating the system. The loss of three Offensive Linemen to long-term injured reserve makes the offensive unit extremely fragile. The focus of this game will be the ground battle: can Dolphins Running Back De'Von Achane capitalize against the Panthers' run defense—one of the most criticized units this year. The game promises to be a physical, low-scoring running battle. Pressure is mounting on both coaching staffs. A loss could ignite the first major changes of the season. Game and Viewing Information: The critical matchup takes place at 1:00 PM ET (Sunday, October 5, 2025) at Bank of America Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on FOX and streamed via the FOX Sports App and NFL+.
