The Philadelphia Eagles are making moves to address depth and special teams.

On Monday, the team announced the signing of wide receiver Xavier Gipson, who was waived by the Giants over the weekend. Gipson had joined the Giants just last week after spending two seasons with the Jets, where he entered the league as an undrafted free agent.

The Eagles’ interest in Gipson likely stems from two factors:

  1. Return game struggles – Rookie Tank Bigsby had a shaky debut as a returner.

  • Injury concerns – Depth wideout Darius Cooper left last week’s game with an injury.

  • In his rookie season with the Jets, Gipson posted 229 yards on 21 catches, and last year added just six receptions for 39 yards in a limited role. His true value has come on special teams: 68 punt returns and 44 kickoffs in 35 games, averaging 8.9 yards per punt return and 26 yards per kickoff. However, ball security has been an issue — Gipson has fumbled 10 times in his young career, including one in Week 1 this year that contributed to his release from New York.

To make space on the 53-man roster, the Eagles once again waived former first-round pick Kenyon Green. This marks the second time this month Green has been cut by Philadelphia, though given the team’s rotating depth needs, another reunion later in the season wouldn’t be surprising.

With Gipson aboard, the Eagles are clearly doubling down on speed, versatility, and finding a reliable spark in the return game.

The Packers' defensive captain still showed up to practice despite having a long week off.
Green Bay, October 4, 2025 As the Green Bay Packers rest during their Week 5 bye, star defensive end Micah Parsons is pushing the grind forward. The All-Pro pass rusher, acquired from the Dallas Cowboys in a blockbuster August trade, was spotted at the Don Hutson Center for a voluntary workout, earning accolades from coaches and teammates.   Parsons, who signed a five-year, $150 million extension with Green Bay, anchors the NFL’s top-ranked defense. With 3 sacks and 10 pressures through four games, including a standout performance against the Commanders, he’s been Jordan Love’s go-to disruptor in a 3-1 start, capped by a thrilling 40-40 tie against Dallas. The bye offers relief for a roster hit by injuries to Jayden Reed (collarbone), Zach Tom (oblique), and Aaron Banks (groin). Yet, Parsons’ dedication shines. “Micah’s work ethic sets the standard,” head coach Matt LaFleur said. “He’s out there sharpening his pass rush, syncing with our scheme—it’s what makes him elite.” Love, who threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1, praised Parsons: “Micah’s hustle lifts us all. His bye-week grind shows why we’re contenders.” Parsons focused on pass-rush drills and coverage reads, vital for a defense allowing just 133 yards per game. With Rashan Gary nursing a minor calf issue and rookie Matthew Golden seeking consistency, Parsons’ leadership is crucial. His 2021 Defensive Player of the Year caliber translates seamlessly to Green Bay, where he’s the defensive linchpin. As the Packers prepare for a Week 6 clash with the Bengals, Parsons’ commitment embodies the team’s championship mindset. Fans on X erupted, with @PackersFaith tweeting, “Micah’s a warrior—bye week and still grinding!” In a stacked NFC North, Parsons’ drive could propel Green Bay to Super Bowl glory.
