Eagles Set to Sign Veteran Super Bowl Champion at Cornerback for Defensive Reinforcement

The Eagles know August isn’t just about preparing—it’s about adjusting. And with training camp underway, one adjustment still looming large is at cornerback. If Philadelphia is serious about shoring up the CB2 spot behind Darius Slay’s departure, one name rises above the rest: Kendall Fuller.
At 30 years old, Fuller brings everything Vic Fangio’s defense demands—discipline, intelligence, and deep familiarity with zone concepts. In fact, he just played under Fangio last season in Miami, starting 11 games before a late-year injury ended his campaign. Even in limited time, he logged two interceptions and 11 pass breakups, proving he still has plenty left in the tank.
The Dolphins released Fuller this offseason for cap reasons, not performance. And now, as other veterans find new homes, the Eagles may have a rare opportunity to plug a major hole with a true scheme fit who doesn’t need time to learn the playbook.
Fuller’s resume is strong: a Super Bowl champion, 19 career interceptions, and years of experience in Cover-3, quarters, and match-zone systems. More importantly, he’s battle-tested. He knows how to play off-ball, read route combinations, and take away passing windows—the very traits Fangio’s system thrives on.
The Eagles have invested in youth at corner, with Cooper DeJean, Kelee Ringo, and Isaiah Rodgers all battling for roles. But if the team wants a veteran voice to stabilize the outside and let the young DBs grow into their roles, Fuller may be the answer.
He won’t cost a premium. He won’t need months to adjust. And most of all—he won’t shy away from pressure. In a defense that values brains as much as athleticism, Kendall Fuller might be the smartest move Howie Roseman can make this August.
In a year where expectations are Super Bowl or bust, a dependable CB2 could be the difference between “almost” and “again.” And Fuller, quietly waiting in free agency, fits the Eagles’ blueprint perfectly.
