Eagles Released DB Just One Month After Signing Due to Disappointing Performance
Philadelphia, PA — Just one month after signing him to the active roster, the Philadelphia Eagles have officially released a defensive back following an underwhelming performance stretch that failed to meet expectations.
The move came Monday, ending a brief stint that began when the Eagles promoted the player from the practice squad to the 53-man roster in late September. His promotion came after injuries in the secondary forced the team to make quick adjustments, particularly when starting cornerbacks went down earlier in the season.

That player was Parry Nickerson, who was active for every game since joining the active roster but saw only limited defensive action. Nickerson made brief appearances in coverage, including during the recent matchup against the New York Giants, but his on-field impact didn’t stand out as the team hoped.

“This is the NFL. If you can’t execute when your number’s called, someone else will,” Sirianni said firmly. “We set a standard here, and we’re not lowering it for anyone.”
With Nickerson now released, the Eagles’ cornerback group remains solidly stacked with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Adoree’ Jackson, Kelee Ringo, and Mac McWilliams forming the core rotation. Meanwhile, Jakorian Bennett, who has been recovering from injury, returned to practice last week but has yet to be activated off Injured Reserve.
Philadelphia also parted ways with defensive end Titus Leo, who had joined the team just two weeks ago from the practice squad.
The move signals that the Eagles’ coaching staff continues to refine their defensive depth, focusing on consistency and performance as they prepare for the second half of the season.
