The Philadelphia Eagles announced two critical roster moves ahead of Week 10, placing both outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari and another defensive starter on Injured Reserve. The news came Friday afternoon as the team worked through medical evaluations and finalized roster adjustments during the bye week.
The first and more expected move involves outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari, who re-aggravated a hamstring injury suffered in Week 7 against the Vikings. The setback will sideline him for several weeks as he continues his recovery. The loss further thins out Philadelphia's edge rotation, although Brandon Graham is expected to take on an increased role and Nolan Smith is nearing a return from his own injury.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is planning to rely on rookie Jihaad Campbell in certain sub-packages, while Jalyx Hunt, Patrick Johnson, and Joshua Uche are expected to see more snaps off the edge. With the trade deadline approaching, the Eagles front office has reportedly been exploring options to bolster the defensive front.
Later that same morning, another unexpected incident struck the team. A veteran safety was involved in a car accident near the NovaCare Complex while driving to the team's facility for a scheduled session. The player was immediately transported to a local Philadelphia hospital with a leg injury, forcing the team to make a difficult roster decision.
We have agreed to acquire CB Jaire Alexander and a 2027 7th-round pick from the Ravens in exchange for a 2026 6th-round pick.

That player was confirmed to be Marcus Epps. The veteran safety remains under medical observation and is expected to undergo additional tests in the coming days. While his injuries are not life-threatening, the team has officially placed him on Injured Reserve as a precautionary measure.
Head coach Nick Sirianni expressed deep concern when speaking to reporters later in the day:
"Marcus is one of the hardest workers we have. This morning really shook everyone up. The only thing that matters right now is his safety and recovery. Football can wait—his health can't."
Both Epps and Ojulari are expected to miss at least the next four games, though their return timelines will depend on further evaluations. Despite the adversity, the Eagles remain optimistic that the team's defensive depth and next-man-up mentality will keep them competitive heading into the second half of the season.
