The Philadelphia Eagles were rolling in the first half against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, building a commanding 21-3 lead. But the celebration was muted when one of their starting offensive linemen went down late in the second quarter with an apparent leg injury.
The player remained on the turf for several minutes before trainers assisted him to his feet. Though he was able to walk off under his own power, the concern on the Eagles sideline was evident as a key protector of Jalen Hurts was forced out of the game.
It was later confirmed that the injured lineman was guard Tyler Steen, who has been competing for a starting role this season. Steen’s exit prompted backup Matt Pryor to step in and take over snaps along the interior line.
While the extent of the injury is not yet known, the Eagles will be hoping it is nothing long-term. Steen has been viewed as an important piece in Philadelphia’s offensive front, bringing versatility and toughness to a unit that has long been considered one of the team’s biggest strengths.
The Eagles’ offensive line depth has already been tested this season, and any significant time missed by Steen could shift the rotation moving forward. For now, all eyes will be on medical updates as Philadelphia prepares for the second half of its matchup with Tampa Bay.
