Eagles Defender Zack Baun Visits Giants RB Cam Skattebo, Reveals Emotional Hospital Conversation

Philadelphia, PA — October 27, 2025

The day after the Philadelphia Eagles’ 38–20 victory over the New York Giants, linebacker Zack Baun was not celebrating like the rest of his teammates. Instead, he spent his afternoon at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia - visiting Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo, who had suffered a severe leg injury in the second half of the game.

“I felt heartbroken the moment it happened,” Baun said. “You play this game to compete, to win — but not to see someone’s career put on hold like that. I knew I had to see him, not just send a message. So I immediately went to the hospital to see him, I wanted to look him in the eyes and tell him I was thinking about him.”

Baun had already shared after the game that the hit which caused Skattebo’s leg injury deeply affected him. The linebacker admitted he could barely focus during the team’s postgame celebrations. For him, the win felt hollow knowing another player was in pain because of a play he was part of.

When Baun arrived at the hospital, the meeting between the two was described as emotional yet genuine.

“He was sitting up when I got there,” Baun recalled. “I told him how sorry I was about what happened, that it was never my intention. He smiled and told me, ‘That’s football, man. Don’t beat yourself up over it.’ Hearing that from him meant more than I can say.”

According to Giants team officials, Skattebo appreciated the gesture, telling Baun he respected the way he handled the situation. The two even spoke about their shared love for the game and the sacrifices that come with it.

“He told me he’ll be back — stronger, hungrier,” Baun said. “That’s when I realized what kind of competitor he really is. I walked out of there inspired. You never want to be the reason someone’s hurt, but you can always be there to show respect.”

Head coach Nick Sirianni later praised Baun’s actions, saying it reflected the culture the Eagles aim to build — one rooted in integrity and empathy.

“Zack didn’t just play with heart — he showed it,” Sirianni said. “That’s what being an Eagle is all about.”

As both teams move forward from the intense divisional matchup, the story of Zack Baun and Cam Skattebo serves as a reminder that football isn’t only about hits and highlights — it’s also about humanity, even between rivals.

James Cook set a personal record to help the Bills beat the Panthers, a number that no Bills player has achieved in more than half a century.
The Buffalo Bills bounced back in style, crushing the Carolina Panthers 40-9 in Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season, ending their two-game losing streak. The night belonged to James Cook, who posted a career-high 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries, marking one of the greatest rushing performances in franchise history. According to the Bills’ PR team, Cook’s total was the most by a Buffalo player since November 25, 1976, when Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson ran for 273 yards against the Detroit Lions. Cook also became the first Bill since Fred Jackson in 2009 to surpass 200 rushing yards in a single game. He now ranks sixth in franchise history for most rushing yards in one game, joining legends like Simpson and Cookie Gilchrist, who once rushed for 246 yards in 1963. Cook also became just the third player in Bills history to log 214+ rushing yards and two or more touchdowns in a single game — putting his name among elite company. With the victory, the Bills improved to 5-2 and will head home for a highly anticipated AFC Championship rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday. James Cook didn’t just dominate on the field — he reminded everyone that Buffalo’s offense still carries the firepower to compete at the top level.
