Drew Brees Brings New Orleans to Tears After Personally Funding “Who Dat Academy” – An Eternal Gift to the Saints and the City He’ll Love Forever
💛 The Words That Silenced a City
At the project’s announcement ceremony, Drew Brees stepped onto the stage to thunderous cheers from thousands of fans. Surrounded by banners of his iconic No. 9 jersey, he took the microphone, paused for a moment, and spoke slowly, his voice trembling with emotion:
“I used to stand here with a football in my hand, hearing this city roar for me.
Today, I’m not here to throw another pass, I’m here to give back what I owe this place: faith, love, and a future.
I didn’t just play for New Orleans. I belong to it, forever.”
The crowd erupted in applause. Many wiped away tears as the voice that once defined the Saints’ golden era echoed once more inside the city’s heart.
🏈 “Who Dat Academy” – A Symbol for the Next Generation
According to city officials, Drew and his wife Brittany Brees have personally invested over 2.5 million USD to establish Who Dat Academy, a state-of-the-art youth sports training center in New Orleans dedicated to football, education, and community.
The facility, located near the Garden District, will feature an NFL-grade turf field, skill development zones, classrooms, a sports library, and community spaces for families.
The mission of the project goes beyond athletic training, it aims to instill teamwork, discipline, and the pride of the Who Dat Nation in the city’s youth.
“We want every child in New Orleans to have the chance to dream, to train, and to be loved, the same way this city once loved my husband.”
Brittany Brees said.
🕊️ A Gift That Will Last Forever
The project, organized under the Brees Dream Foundation in partnership with the New Orleans Department of Sports and Education, is expected to open in June 2026.
Who Dat Academy will offer free access to local students, scholarship programs, summer camps, and annual community tournaments.
Since the announcement, social media has exploded with messages of gratitude and love, under hashtags like #ForeverSaint and #WhoDatAcademy.
One fan wrote: “He may have retired, but his heart never left the Superdome.”
