Cowboys Complete Trade to Acquire Logan Wilson

The Dallas Cowboys have officially completed a trade to acquire veteran linebacker Logan Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals, sending a late-round seventh-round pick in return.
Following their 27-17 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football, Dallas — now 3-5-1 and near the bottom of the league in defensive rankings — decided it was time to strengthen the middle of their defense.
Wilson, 29, is in the second year of a four-year, $36 million deal he signed in July 2023. Over the past four seasons, he recorded at least 100 tackles each year — though his snap count had decreased this season in Cincinnati.
With Dallas currently ranking 31st out of 32 teams in total defense (397.4 yards per game) and 30.8 points allowed per game, just above the Bengals, this move is clearly an attempt to “turn the key” and spark a defensive turnaround.
The Cowboys now have a bye week, giving Wilson time to learn the system before returning on Monday Night Football against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 17.

Bringing in Wilson shows Dallas isn’t just trying to patch holes — they’re sending a message. The front office wants a proven, physical leader to reset the tone of the defense.
At 29, with four straight 100-plus tackle seasons, Wilson brings not only production but leadership and communication at the heart of the defense.
Dallas has struggled mightily against the run, allowing over 136 rushing yards per game in the past five weeks. Wilson’s arrival gives them a true “field general” who can read plays and rally the unit.
For Cincinnati, the move signals a shift in direction. Wilson had reportedly requested a trade earlier last month.
