Dan Orlovsky Calls Out Eagles’ Offense: Painful — But Maybe Necessary

Former NFL quarterback and current analyst Dan Orlovsky didn’t hold back when addressing the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive struggles during ESPN’s Get Up.

“We’re a third through the season,” Orlovsky said. “This offense stinks right now. It doesn’t do anything well.”

He criticized the Eagles for relying too heavily on the shotgun formation. “They’re in the shotgun way too much,” he added. “You’d better get out of it because it’s killing your offense.”

Orlovsky also referenced a key interception as proof of the team’s predictability. “Jalen Hurts ran the same concept four times in the game. When you constantly show defenders the same thing, they figure it out. Right now, this offense is bad.”

Head coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged the criticism but stayed positive. “I love that we’re all looking for solutions to get better,” Sirianni said. “That’s not just coaches — that’s everyone on the team. The mindset here is to keep improving and play our best football by season’s end.”

He ended with a determined tone: “We’re going to take some time off and get back to fighting. This is life in the NFL — ups and downs happen. But with the people we have in this room, there’s no panic. Just get up, go back to work, and get better.”

Amid locker room turmoil and back-to-back losses, Za'Darius Smith’s sudden retirement shocks the league — and prompts an Eagles legend to speak out.
Just hours after the Philadelphia Eagles’ second straight loss, the NFL was stunned as Za'Darius Smith abruptly announced his retirement on social media. Though not sidelined by injury and still performing at a high level in his 10th season, Smith said he wanted to “focus on family and mental health.” The timing, however, couldn’t be more controversial. The Eagles are reeling from back-to-back losses, reports of locker room tension are swirling, and questions are mounting about the team’s leadership and morale. According to Sportskeeda, an Eagles legend voiced concern over Smith’s sudden departure, saying: “The timing makes no sense… you don’t walk away in the middle of a storm unless something’s truly wrong inside.” The comment quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions from fans across the league. While some praised Smith for prioritizing his well-being, others criticized the move as “abandoning ship” when the team needed him most. On social media, #ThankYouZaDarius and #FlyEaglesFly trended simultaneously — capturing the emotional divide among the Eagles faithful. The team has yet to issue an official statement on how it plans to fill Smith’s absence, as head coach Nick Sirianni focuses on keeping his locker room steady heading into next week’s matchup.
