It doesn’t happen often. But when it does, it turns heads.
Quarterback Dak Prescott had barely finished a route timing drill at Training Camp when he turned to reporters and said something that immediately made waves inside the Cowboys facility.
“He’s different,” Dak said. “The way he moves, the way he attacks the ball—it reminds me of someone I threw to a few years back. Feels like I’m watching CeeDee all over again.”
That kind of praise doesn’t come lightly, especially from the Cowboys’ franchise quarterback. Throughout camp, the rookie receiver has drawn attention with his burst off the line, clean footwork, and a surprising knack for making contested grabs look routine.
Prescott wasn’t done.
“He understands spacing. He listens. And he competes like he’s already earned a spot, even though he hasn’t yet. That’s what makes the great ones stand out early. That’s what CeeDee had—and this kid’s got it too.”
Coaches on the sideline nodded in agreement. Even veteran defenders have admitted the rookie is earning more attention than they expected this early.
One cornerback reportedly told his position coach, “We better start taking him seriously before he starts torching everybody.”
As Day 4 of camp wrapped, whispers grew louder: did Dallas quietly land another WR gem?
Prescott certainly thinks so. And when your QB starts calling out rookie receivers by name, that’s not hype—it’s trust.
The rookie drawing all the praise? Josh Kelly. And if what Dak’s seeing is real, Cowboys Nation may be watching the next star take flight.
