Cowboys Trade: Dallas Reportedly Ready to Move On From $136 Million Star CeeDee Lamb Amid Shocking WR Shake-Up
RUMOR: The Dallas Cowboys may be preparing to move on from wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is currently on a $136 million deal. According to circulating reports, the team could be considering a potential trade involving Lamb — a noteworthy possibility as another wideout has started to emerge as the top receiving option in Dallas.

This speculation stems from the breakout performances of George Pickens, who appears to be taking over the WR1 role within the Cowboys’ offense. Pickens’ rise has reportedly placed Lamb in a spot where he could be viewed as a valuable trade asset.
However, any move involving Lamb before June 1 would come at a significant financial cost. A pre-June 1 trade would trigger a dead-cap hit of roughly $42.8 million, a massive number by any standard. On the flip side, Dallas would clear his projected $38.6 million cap charge for next season, according to several analysts familiar with the situation.
A more realistic scenario, some say, is that Dallas could opt to restructure Lamb’s contract. This approach would lower his current cap number — around $18 million — and push the remaining charges into future years, giving the team greater financial flexibility in the short term.
Still, deciding whether to trade Lamb is no light matter. If the Cowboys intend to keep both Lamb and Pickens through 2027 or 2028, the shrinking cap space could force a tough decision — and Lamb may ultimately be the one the team chooses to move on from.
