Cowboys LB Set for 2025 Comeback After Major Injury Recovery

The Dallas Cowboys just received a major boost heading into Training Camp. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown shared on Instagram that he’s been medically cleared, signaling a full return for the 2025 NFL season. For a team needing defensive depth, this is welcome news at the perfect time.
Overshown’s journey hasn’t been easy. He tore his ACL during the 2023 preseason, then suffered another devastating knee injury in Week 14 of last season—this time involving his ACL, PCL, and MCL. Many believed it would take him well into 2026 to see the field again.
But the 2023 third-round pick is ahead of schedule. Despite the possibility that he’ll start Training Camp on the PUP list, his eyes are set on returning midseason—potentially in time for the Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day showdown with the Chiefs.
Before his injury, Overshown was turning heads. In just 13 games, he recorded 90 tackles, 5 sacks, 8 tackles for loss, 4 pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a pick-six. ESPN ranked him among the top rising off-ball linebackers in the NFC.
Now, the challenge will be proving he can regain that form after two major knee surgeries. The Cowboys have been light at linebacker since Leighton Vander Esch’s departure, and Overshown could become the stabilizing force in the middle of the defense—if his body holds up.
The excitement is real. Overshown’s recovery offers more than just a roster boost—it’s a morale lift for a Cowboys defense looking for identity and consistency in 2025. And if he truly returns to form, Dallas may have a rising star right where they need one most.
