Cowboys Demand Donovan Ezeiruaku Sign Contract Before It’s Too Late

Frisco, TX – June 7, 2025 – The Dallas Cowboys have issued a stark ultimatum to their 2025 second-round draft pick, Donovan Ezeiruaku, as tensions escalate over his unsigned rookie contract. With mandatory training camp looming on July 22, the team is pressing the Boston College edge rusher to accept their latest offer or face the possibility of being traded. Ezeiruaku’s demand for a fully guaranteed contract has sparked a standoff, leaving America’s Team at a crossroads as they balance roster stability with financial prudence.

Selected 44th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Ezeiruaku was hailed as a cornerstone for Dallas’ defensive front, complementing All-Pro Micah Parsons. His college resume at Boston College—120 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks over three seasons, per ESPN—earned him a reputation as a relentless pass rusher. Pro Football Focus (PFF) ranked him 16th on their 2025 draft board, noting he was the only FBS edge defender to post a run-defense grade above 80.0 for three consecutive seasons. His 4.78-second 40-yard dash and 35-inch vertical jump at the NFL Combine further cemented his value, with a 2024 PFF pass-rush grade of 84.2.

Ezeiruaku’s camp, led by agent David Mulugheta, is pushing for a fully guaranteed four-year deal, a rarity for second-round picks. According to OverTheCap, only 15% of second-round contracts in the 2024 draft were fully guaranteed, with most featuring guarantees for the first two years and partial assurances thereafter. A typical deal for Ezeiruaku’s slot is projected at $9.2 million over four years, including a $3.5 million signing bonus, per Spotrac. Mulugheta, who also represents Parsons and CeeDee Lamb, argues Ezeiruaku’s elite production and durability—playing 92% of defensive snaps in 2024—justify the demand. “Donovan’s a game-changer,” Mulugheta told NFL Network. “He deserves security reflective of his impact.”

The Cowboys, however, have countered with a standard rookie contract: fully guaranteed for years one and two, with 50% guaranteed in year three and no guarantees in year four. This structure aligns with their 2025 draft class, where first-rounder Tyler Booker and third-rounder Shavon Revel Jr. signed similar deals, per Yahoo Sports.

Saints Sign Lease Extension at State-Owned Superdome Through at Least 2035
Get your hands on the official New Orleans Saints merchandise collection right now—from jerseys and hats to accessories—so you're always ready to cheer for the black and gold warriors! SHOP NOW New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson and Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry have signed a lease extension for the state-owned Superdome that will run at least through 2035. "With this agreement, we are paving the way for more Saints victories, more Super Bowl memories, and more economic growth for Louisiana," Landry said in announcing the agreement on Thursday. After 10 years, the team will have up to four five-year options that, if all exercised, could extend the lease through 2055. The current lease agreement was scheduled to end in 2030. The new lease takes the place of the old one. A crucial component of the extension is that it now allows the Saints to try to bid for the 2031 Super Bowl. New Orleans hosted its most recent Super Bowl on Feb. 9, when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22. The Superdome, which opened in 1975 and has been renovated several times since, has hosted eight Super Bowls. Close to $1 billion has been spent to repair and modernize the stadium since it was damaged by hurricane Katrina on Aug. 29, 2005. "The Superdome is not just a landmark in the world of sports; it’s a symbol of our state’s resilience and pride," Landry said. "I am proud to know its legacy will keep marching forward with today’s announcement." "This extension represents a continued and valued partnership between the New Orleans Saints and the state of Louisiana that demonstrates our intent to be here and fully committed for many decades," Benson said. In concert with the Superdome lease, the state also has agreed to a 10-year lease extension for offices inside the Benson Tower, a high-rise building near the stadium that Benson also owns. This is the first lease extension the Saints have signed since the death of Tom Benson, who owned the club from 1985 through his death in 2018. Since then, his widow, Gayle Benson, now 78 years old, has owned the club and the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans.
