Cowboys' Dak Prescott Says He Isn't Motivated By Not Being Top 10 NFL QB in ESPN Poll

The latest ESPN poll shocked many: the franchise quarterback didn’t just miss the Top 10 list—it fell off completely. Some saw it as disrespect. But inside the Cowboys building, the reaction was calm. Confidence. Not chaos.

When reporters asked if the ranking provided motivation, the veteran signal‑caller shook his head.

“Motivated? That’s temporary. I don’t care about a list,” he said. “I was, what, the ninth pick? The list changes every year.”

He pointed out that injury history and divisional round exits weighed heavily on public perception. Yet there was pride in those numbers, too: nearly 4,500 yards seasons, elite completion percentage and career passer ratings couching him among NFL legends.

“You think I care about being ranked? Nah. I know who I am,” he continued. “It’s about getting better, staying healthy, being the best leader I can be.”

Now entering his 10th season, the QB is embracing what many see as his career crossroads: personal redemption and team glory. There’s urgency to end the postseason drought. There’s pressure to bring a Lombardi to Dallas.

For him, the list doesn’t matter. The mission does. And if his focus remains unchanged, fans may soon witness why consistent excellence outweighs fleeting rankings.

Needless to say—Dak Prescott doesn’t need validation from lists, just results.
