Could the Rams Make a Move for Brandon Aubrey? A Potential Blockbuster Trade With Dallas
NFL rumors: Rams would make a bombshell Brandon Aubrey trade with Cowboys
Rumors are swirling around the league that the Los Angeles Rams — a team clearly in “all-in” mode — could explore a shocking move: a trade for Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey.
Why Is Aubrey Getting Attention?
Aubrey has been nothing short of sensational this season.
-
He nailed four field goals in a tight win over the New York Giants — including a game-tying kick late in regulation and the game-winner in overtime.
He’s also been automatic from long distance, hitting multiple 60-yarders and giving Dallas a legitimate scoring weapon from beyond midfield.
With the Cowboys sitting at 3-4-1 and facing a brutal upcoming stretch (against the Eagles, Chiefs, and Lions), every point matters — and so does the decision to keep or move key assets like Aubrey.
Why Would Anyone Trade for a Kicker?
Normally, NFL teams don’t part with major draft capital for a kicker. But Aubrey might be the exception:
-
He changes win probability by consistently converting from deep range — turning stalled drives into points.
For a team like the Rams, who’ve struggled with consistency at the position, adding a reliable, clutch kicker could be the difference between sneaking into or missing the playoffs.
Kickers often have long careers, and Aubrey’s only just entering his prime — still on a team-friendly deal and playing at an elite level.
What About the Cowboys’ Side?
Despite the speculation, multiple insiders believe a trade is highly unlikely. Dallas views Aubrey as a core piece of its roster and isn’t eager to move him. The front office is reportedly more interested in locking him up long-term than letting him go.
The Bottom Line
Even if this scenario remains just an idea floated by insiders, the fact that a kicker is being discussed as a potential blockbuster trade target speaks volumes. In today’s NFL, even so-called “specialists” can reshape games — and championship hopes.
Whether or not the Cowboys ever pick up the phone, one thing is clear: Brandon Aubrey’s value is skyrocketing, and teams around the league are starting to notice.
