Bryce Huff isn’t holding back.
In a recent interview, the former Eagles edge rusher opened up about his decision to leave Philadelphia — and didn’t mince words about how it all went down. Despite the Eagles’ late Super Bowl push, Huff made it clear that heading to San Francisco wasn’t just a career decision — it was a personal and professional escape.
“Being in Philly didn’t feel right,” Huff said. “They had their vision, and I had mine. I didn’t want to be a part of something that didn’t align with who I am as a player.”
The defensive star, who joined the 49ers on a $51.1 million contract this offseason, emphasized that the 49ers’ culture and leadership are what drew him in. “This locker room is different. Everyone holds each other accountable, from top to bottom. There’s no confusion about expectations.”
His comments seemed to take aim at the Eagles' handling of roles and trust. Though Philadelphia gave Huff rotational snaps and some key moments, he reportedly felt underused and undervalued — especially compared to the depth and clarity he’s found in San Francisco’s system.
“I’ve already learned more here in a few weeks than I did all last year,” he said. “It’s crazy how much clearer the vision is when coaches know how to put guys in position to win.”
The Eagles, meanwhile, have remained tight-lipped, with no official comment in response. But fans on social media haven’t. Some expressed disappointment over Huff’s perceived disrespect, while others agreed that the team mishandled one of its most explosive pass-rushing talents.
Regardless of which side fans take, one thing is clear: Huff feels at home in red and gold — and he’s more motivated than ever.
“I want to win. And I want to win here,” he said. “This is where I belong.”
The 49ers are hoping that Huff’s chip-on-his-shoulder attitude helps spark a dominant defense in 2025. And if Week 13’s Eagles vs. 49ers matchup stays on the schedule, expect Huff to circle it — twice.
