Bills coach Sean McDermott announces 3 key players injured ahead of week 14 game against Bengals
The Buffalo Bills are facing a critical showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday, but Head Coach Sean McDermott has just delivered a worrying update: three key defensive players are dealing with injuries and could miss the high-stakes Week 14 matchup at Highmark Stadium.
Joey Bosa Likely OUT with Hamstring Injury
Superstar pass-rusher Joey Bosa suffered a hamstring injury during last week’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and was absent from Wednesday’s practice, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. All signs point to Bosa missing the Bengals game, and possibly more.

McDermott didn’t mince words:
“We’re not going to risk Joey’s long-term health. It’s a tough decision, but the right one. He may also miss next week’s game vs the Patriots.”
Bosa has a long history of hamstring issues, and the team is taking no chances — especially with the playoffs looming.
Darius Slay & Andre Jones Jr. Status Uncertain
The Bills tried to quickly plug the defensive gaps by signing two reinforcements:
-
Darius Slay, former All-Pro cornerback, was claimed off waivers from the Eagles on Wednesday.
Andre Jones Jr., a 27-year-old defensive end, joined the practice squad on Tuesday.
But there's a catch — neither is guaranteed to play in Week 14. Both players need to pass physicals and clear roster procedures before being eligible to take the field.
Thin Depth, Brutal Schedule Ahead
The timing couldn’t be worse. Buffalo is entering the toughest stretch of their season, and any slip-up could cost them the AFC East crown and a first-round bye.
Here’s what’s ahead after Week 14:
-
Week 15: At New England Patriots (on a 10-game win streak)
Week 16: vs Cleveland Browns
Week 17: vs Philadelphia Eagles
Week 18: vs New York Jets (AFC East rivalry)
With injuries stacking up and the schedule tightening, the pressure is mounting fast.
Internal Concerns Rising
A source within the team told ESPN:
“Losing Bosa is a massive blow. If Slay and Jones can’t suit up either, we’ll be forced to rely on untested backups in the biggest games of the year.”
📅 Bills vs Bengals kicks off Sunday at 8:25 PM ET at Highmark Stadium, Buffalo.
