Kamara revealed that his mother, Adama Kamara, single-handedly raised him and his sister Garmai after immigrating from Liberia to the United States amid the brutal civil war in the 1990s. Adama, a single mother, faced countless financial and cultural hardships to build a new life in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was born in 1995.

“My mother left her homeland of Liberia when the war was raging fiercely,” Kamara said. “From then on, she has been both the strict father and the warm mother. I love her so much.”

Adama's resilience became the foundation of Kamara's life. Despite working tirelessly to support the family, she always encouraged him to pursue his passion for football, from Norcross High School to the University of Tennessee, and ultimately to the NFL. She taught him discipline, humility, and the ability to overcome adversity, allowing him the freedom to choose his own path—a decision that led to him being drafted by the Saints in 2017.

“She gave me the freedom to choose, but always reminded me never to think I was the best,” Kamara recalled.

Since joining the Saints, Kamara has become one of the NFL's top running backs, setting franchise records, earning multiple Pro Bowl honors, and contributing to the team's major successes. However, behind every accolade, he insists, is his mother's influence.

“Everything I do is for her—she sacrificed everything for me,” Kamara shared.

That perspective has accompanied him through the 2025 season. After a quiet start in Weeks 1 and 2, Kamara delivered a solid performance in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills, with 15 carries for 70 yards and 4 receptions for 2 yards, even though the team didn't secure the win. Through four games, he has 65 carries for 256 yards rushing, 1 touchdown, along with a key role in the passing game, affirming his status as the Saints' top weapon.
