Aaron Rodgers passes Brett Favre on NFL's all-time passing TD list

Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre will forever be intertwined.

Now Rodgers has a leg up on his fellow Green Bay Packers legend in the NFL record book. On Sunday, Rodgers threw a second-quarter touchdown pass to DK Metcalf to give the Pittsburgh Steelers a 14-0 lead over the New England Patriots.

The touchdown pass was the 509th of Rodgers' NFL career, giving him one more than Favre and moving him into fourth place by himself on the all-time passing touchdown list. Only Tom Brady (649), Peyton Manning (571) and Drew Brees (571) have thrown more touchdowns than Rodgers.

Like Favre, Rodgers threw the bulk of his touchdown passes with the Packers during a stellar stint in Green Bay that included four MVPs and a Super Bowl championship. Rodgers threw 475 of his touchdown passes with the Packers and has since thrown 34 combined with the Steelers and New York Jets.

Favre threw 442 of his 508 touchdowns with the Packers before ending his career with the Vikings and Jets. Together, Rodgers and Favre combined for 31 years of Hall of Fame-level quarterback play, providing the Packers decades of stability. Now, Jordan Love is off to a strong start as Green Bay's third full-time starting quarterback since Favre took the reins in 1992.

As for Rodgers, he's off to his own strong start in Pittsburgh after two seasons in New York that were most notable for the Achilles injury that cost him the 2023 season. He's hoping to revive his career at 41 years old and return the Steelers to championship contention.
